I normally love when Adam Curry or John C Dvorak mention the Pocket No Agenda on any of the shows but I will admit that I was a bit stunned when my coworker told me about the last five minutes of this latest No Agenda #170.
PLEASE allow me to explain!
The culprit here is the iTunes payment system. The system basically works like this: You get paid each FISCAL month from each REGION that is over $150 (USD). The thing that sucks is the region part, which I will go into more later. Here is the fiscal calendar:
If you remember, I launched on December 24. This gave me 3 days of sales before the end of that fiscal month, so 3 days to make $150 in “a single region” if I wanted to get paid. I did not make this but did come close ($144.90) in the US.
I'd rather not expose my financial data, but transparency worked for Obama, right?
Notice the green and red numbers at the bottom. I got paid “$0.00” because none of my regions were over $150. On to the next month.
The January fiscal month was much better. This quarter JUST ENDED on January 30th.
Even though my profits were around $850, I will only get paid $625 because the US region is the only one that was over $150. Combine January with December and it looks like this:
The amount in green is how much I “think” I will get paid from Apple. $770.70. I’m not sure what kind of taxes or fees I will have to pay at this time (or in the future). Still this is only the US region since none of the other regions were over $150. I have no idea what kind of delay Apple takes in payment, I am quite curious and anxious myself. I have heard horror stories but hope this is no longer the case:

I am still learning this myself. This is my first iPhone app and I have yet to get paid ANYTHING from Apple yet. That is why no donation has been made yet.
On a personal note, this just makes me kinda sad. Someone I admired has “called me out” and I feel my image and reputation have been kinda smirched. I just got laid off but was still planning to donate a large chunk of the money I received (over 50%). I wrote this because I love the show and wanted to learn iPhone development. Hearing this today just kinda feel like a kick in the gut on an already shitty day. Adam, I’m not mad or anything; I would be curious too if I were you. I just wish you would of contacted me privately if you curious. It just makes me sad.

Thanks but no need for name calling. I just wanted to explain the situation. I probably just need to grow a thicker skin and care less about what people say.
I think Adam Curry wants your money because he was promoting your app more than other NoAgenda apps, but obviously he is not aware of all these Apple-related stuff.
I think that Adam Curry should release his video app on which he is working (or any other app for that matter) and he should collect first cheque from Apple and only after this collection he should talk about getting money.
Good that you posted this stuff as Adam Curry probably thought that you earned several thousands (you earned below 1k$ despite having higher price) and that you already got money from Apple.
Anyway it’s good that Adam Curry posts links to all NoAgenda apps in shownotes to each NoAgenda – lately – so listeners can pick the one(s) that fit them the best. Adam Curry therefore is not bad guy.
